Down the Rabbit Hole – Typography, Third Year, Supervison by Jeremy Jansen
A dice determined four restrictions I had to deal with during the design of this book they where: A small size (105mm x 175mm), A magazine, content from Project Gutenberg and the booklet had to be stapled.
I chose to re-design Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland as a magazine on this small size. For the inside visit: www.florisvdriel.nl

Welcome to Venice – Part of the specialization in Design Research at Graphic Design Arnhem
As part of my specialization in design research I delved into the implications of a Biennial. By viewing the Biennial as a tool for political soft power I made an alternate identity and catalogue showcasing the countries who spent the most money on their pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2013.

Design sketches for the upcoming graduation catalogue. This years catalogue questions the value of similar books. With the impossibility of showing the final work of the students we decided to create a space which gives context rather than simply showing the work. We interviewed each student and from their interviews we created keywords. This resulted into four general themes which we linked to essays that where important references for us during our time at the academy. These are displayed seperately in the catalog as a sort of inspirational index for the students. The main focus of the design is the interviews and letting our students speak about their work. These pictures are also the way we documented every book designed by students of Graphic Design Arnhem.
